As part of the NSW Government initiative, More Jobs More Care (MJMC), Apprenticeship Careers Australia has launched an amazing pre-employment program in disability support where you’ll get invaluable hands-on experience and complete a minimum of 4 accredited modules towards a Certificate III.

 

As part of the MJMC initiative, Set2Learn will be offering Disability Pre-Employment Training under the NSW Smart & Skilled funding program. This training reflects the skill requirements for supporting people with disability. It provides a set of skills to support the induction of new workers into a variety of roles supporting people with disability.

 

You will learn how to provide support services and empower people with disabilities using a personal-centred approach and provide a positive and safe environment for them to engage and grow. You will also learn the skills and knowledge required to participate in safe work practices for direct client care and ensure organisational requirements are followed according to relevant policies and procedures.

 

Participants will also have the opportunity to participate in “Speed Interviews” with Disability organisations to either gain employment or as a pathway to Traineeships.

 

Units OF STUDY

  • HLTINF001 Comply with Infection prevention and control policies and procedure
  • HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care
  • CHCCOM005 Communicate and work in health or community services
  • HLTAID011 Provide first aid

 

PATHWAYS INFORMATION

Successful candidates will complete nationally accredited units which could be credited towards a range of courses offered in the Community Services and Health sectors, including the Certificate III in Individual Support, Certificate IV in Disability

AM I ELIGIBLE FOR SKILLING FOR RECOVERY FEE-FREE TRAINING?

To be eligible for fee-free qualification training under Skilling for Recovery you need to:

  • Live or work in NSW
  • Be aged 15 years or older
  • Have left school
  • Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen.

DELIVERY

This 4-week intensive program will be run with a blend of face-to-face and online classes, work based learning and assessment, online practical workshops and self-paced activities.
