This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a range of community settings and peoples’ homes, who provide support in a manner that empowers people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation and wellbeing. Workers promote a person-centred approach, work according to and may contribute to an individualised plan, and work without direct supervision. They may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a small team.
The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.
This qualification has been designed to provide a strong foundation for support workers, team leaders, coordinators, frontline managers, and other staff who currently provide services to people with disabilities as part of their day to day work.
Completion of: CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)
OR
Completion of: CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)
OR
Completion of: CHC30408 Certificate III in Disability PLUS the CHCSS00125 Entry to Certificate IV in Disability Support Skill Set.
Additionally:
All learners must be at least 18 years of age.
All learners must complete a language, literacy and numeracy skills assessment at time of enrolment, or alternatively provide a copy of a Certificate or Statement of Attainment for a Certificate IV qualification or higher or equivalent.
All learners must be an existing worker in a Disability setting.
All learners must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Disability setting or in a support/carer role in either the Disability, Aged Care, Mental Health or Community Sectors.
From 2015, all students undertaking Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Australia need a USI number.
SET2LEARN will not be able to issue any national recognised qualification or statement of attainment if this is not provided.

10 units must be completed to attain this qualification, consisting of 7 compulsory units and 3 elective units.

Electives may vary to suit the needs of each individual.
This course is offered via a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) pathway.
RPL is an assessment process recognising any skills and knowledge gained through previous training, work or life experience that are relevant to the qualification, to determine the extent to which you meet the qualification requirements for competency.
The RPL process also identifies where any additional learning is needed to achieve competency in the qualification. Where this is required, gap training is available and will need to be completed. You may also apply for any Credit Transfer for any previously completed units.

All learners will be asked to participate in a Pre-Training Review and complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Review. This is to ensure we meet your needs as a learner and you are suitable for the course.

Full fee for service: $1,500.00
A $500 per person deposit is required upon commencement and the balance can be paid by regular fortnightly instalments.
