Overview
This workshop focuses on understanding the Autism Spectrum, its prevalence, diagnosis and key issues. It will aim to develop positive strategies to work with and better support individuals with autism using real case scenarios.
Who is this for?
This workshop is offered to staff, parents or carers alike as it will provide practical knowledge to better understand and work with individuals with autism. It can be run in conjunction with the assistive communication workshop.

This workshop covers information about the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) including:
Sensory Overload
Positive supports
Strategies for dealing with behaviours
It is aims to provide workers and carers with a better understanding of the disorder and its impact on the individual, family and carers.
OUTCOMES
By the end of the workshop participants will be able to:
Develop a better understanding of Autism, Diagnosis, Characteristics, Behaviours, Communication issues and sensory overload/Sensory Integration dysfunction.
Demonstrate better use of communication tools:
- Using visual aids
- Positive Supports
Strategies for dealing with behaviours
Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be issued with a Certificate of Completion.
