Manual Handling Training
for Care Workers

Overview

This 6 hour workshop provides participants with the opportunity to cover the theoretical aspects of manual handling including, assessing risk of injury and implementing controls to reduce the risk of injury. It includes:

  • Reducing the risk of musculoskeletal injury

  • Correct use of hoists and slings, transfer belts and flat slide sheets

  • Legal requirements

  • Professional guidance

  • Ergonomics*

  • Moving & handling risk assessment principles

  • Spinal awareness & body posture

  • Recognition & performance of good handling practice

For Service Providers, Support Workers and Carers, course covers how to safely perform hazardous manual tasks in the workplace.
